Abstrak

Fenomena bunuh diri terus menjadi perhatian global, nasional, dan lokal, termasuk di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) yang dikenal memiliki kehidupan komunal dan religius yang kuat. Munculnya berbagai kasus bunuh diri dalam beberapa tahun terakhir menimbulkan pertanyaan mengenai hubungan antara kondisi sosial, kehidupan beragama, dan kerentanan individu terhadap tindakan bunuh diri. Studi ini mengkaji fenomena bunuh diri di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) dengan memeprtemukan teori bunuh diri Emile Durkheim dan pemikiran teologis John Potter. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis dokumen, data diambil dari delapan pemberitahuan media daring sepanjang 2023-2026. Melalui analisis deskriptif pola-pola yang ditemukan dibahas berdasarkan gagasan Durkheim tentang integrasi dan regulasi sosial serta pandangan Potter terkait stigma, kasih karunia, dan pendampingan pastoral. Temuan studi mengindikasikan bahwa peristiwa bunuh diri di NTT mencakup beragam rentang usia dan latar belakang sosial dengan proposi tertinggi pada kelompok laki-laki. Faktor-faktor yang muncul meliputi tekanan ekonomi, tuntutan budaya terkait belis, gangguan kejiwaan, persoalan relasi, dan berbagai bentuk kerentanan sosial lainnya. Dialog Durkheim dan Potter menunjukkan bahwa bunuh diri di NTT merupakan persoalan sosial sekaligus teologis. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya gereja membangun komunitas yang menghadirkan penerimaan, pendampingan, dan harapan sebagai bagian dari pelayanan pastoral terhadap individu yang mengalami keputusasaan
